In Response To: Rambo VIII.... Old Blood (feelgood)
The first time I saw a episode of something like this was a I Spy episode. The two spies were running from some bad guys and they held them off in an old farm house. The only weapon they had was a .22 rifle. As a kid I remember them discussing the failure of the ballistics of the .22. My favorite actor was Robert Culp but he seemed like he always had health problems. Drunk?
Then came the home alone movies and I think that inspired more movies. The last one was the James Bond movie when he and M were holding up in his ancestral home.
The true incident I am aware of was an older Mexican or Central American who owned a ranch and the cartel wanted it. He sent his farm workers home with his blessings and they knew he wasn't going to survive the fight. The old rancher had a lot of long guns and he used those at distance but it was too much. I think the cartel members tried to set fire to the ranch house and failed. When the workers came out the next day the rancher was dead but the cartel members were also dead and scattered though out the ranch grounds. The authorities theorized he killed all of them and died in the process because they would have taken over and removed the bodies. Brave man.
This Rambo movie looks stupid and childish. I can guarantee it won't have the fun of the Arnold movie when he was a sheriff in a border town. That was fun and didn't take it seriously. Just a lot of fun firepower and goofy characters.
Sly's ego won't make it fun. He still thinks he's a bad ass but he's just another hollywood hypocrite which at this moment I'm speaking to the choir. You already know that.
