Savage A22 series rifles RKI's - any good?

I've started picking up Savage rimfires lately.
A couple years ago, I got a Savage MKII FV-SR, because I needed a cheap, suppressor ready bolt gun to teach some Boy Scouts shooting. I was quite impressed with the accuracy of the rifle, less so with the stock, but whatever, it was hard to beat for $230...
Recently, I picked up a B22 FV-SR with accu-trigger, and a Model 64 FV-SR, both also with heavy barrels, threaded. The Model 64 was on clearance, $130, making it probably the cheapest suppressor host I've ever found.
But I can't find a threaded A22 ANYWHERE, except for a couple the auction site. Local shops both can't get one, either, nor can Bass Pro or Cabellas. Very frustrating. What's the deal with Savage? Are they just very limited production or do they not have a good distribution network or what? Can't figure it out.
Got bored (and fed up) with Ruger cheapening out the 10/22's as much as they have, so I figured I'd look for alternatives now.
