It was a glorious day to be outside and shooting SMGs. As nice as it was outside it really wasn't a match, with rules and timers and prizes.
The setup from left to right was a shooting tree with six targets (hit all these), then five falling plates (hit all these), then three tables of bowling pins (hit four of these), then two falling silhouette targets (hit left left with full-auto aimed fire, hit the right with full-auto from the hip fire), and take out any more pins if you had ammo left. One 30-round magazine was all you got. Distance was maybe 25'
Cost was $7.50 per relay, plus $5 event surcharge for non-members. If you rented a subgun it was another $7.50 per relay. Rental guns were MP5, MP40, a Sterling, a TSMG .45, a couple others I don't remember.
I probably won't do the SMG match again considering it's a 75 min drive for me, and it gets expensive fast when you're paying those prices.
ALGC also hosts pin matches and IDPA matches and 3-gun matches, I'll give those a try. You can use a shotgun for the pin matches.
The ALGC director (who was running the SMG match) said for the 3-gun match they are going to let you use a bi-pod mounted rifle, e.g., FN-FAL, Browning 30 caliber belt fed. You gotta hump it as part of your relay, not ahead of time. Sounds fun :)
